Богатый урожай чесночка — мечта каждого огородника. Не мудрено, что каждую осень становятся актуальными острые, чесночные вопросы. Когда сажать чеснок под зиму? Какой участок выделить? Как отобрать семена и правильно их высадить? Какие удобрения внести?
В этой статье мы раскроем секреты удачной посадки озимого чеснока. А заодно постараемся ответить на самый главный вопрос — когда сажать чеснок осенью.
Итак, по – порядочку.
Когда сажать озимый чеснок
Высадить в срок такую полезную и необходимую культуру архи важно. Посадишь рано – зубочки укоренятся, взойдут и вымерзнут зимой. Поздно – плохо укоренятся, или вообще не успеют. Урожай будет слабым, или нечего будет собирать, так как посевной материал пропадет.
Когда сажать чеснок под зиму, вопрос, конечно, интересный. Потому что никто и никогда не скажет точной даты. Даже если обратиться к лунному календарю, то в нем указан добрый десяток дат. В этом году, например, нам предлагают посадить чесночок и в сентябре, и в октябре, и даже в ноябре. Как сориентироваться переживающему за будущий урожай огороднику? Как выбрать оптимальную дату?
Посадка чеснока издавна ассоциируется с Покровами, большим церковным праздником. По новому стилю это 14 октября, по — старому 1 октября. По поверьям, именно в этот день лето передает зиме бразды правления.
Уверена, что большинство бывалых огородников всегда ориентируются на эту дату, учитывая погодные условия. Так что с погрешностями дату посадки можно назвать «14 октября, плюс, минус».
Что это значит. В отдельных регионах посадка может происходить раньше. Это Сибирь, Урал. В южных областях, наоборот, немного позже. Получается, что чесночное время наступает в конце сентября, и длится до конца октября. Если теплая погода будет баловать, то в отдельных регионах посадкой можно заняться и в ноябре.
Выходит, что огородник сам определяет для себя, когда сажать чеснок под зиму. Помочь ему могут народные приметы, выверенные веками:
- Когда на улице становится зябко рукам
- Когда холодно босиком на землю ступить
- Когда полетят белые мухи
- Когда высаживают тюльпаны
- Когда птицы на юг улетают
И чтоб уж наверняка выбрать правильную дату посадки, народные поверья и конкретные погодные условия можно сопоставить с лунным календарем на 2017 год. Благоприятные дни в сентябре это 7,8,9,23 и 24. В октябре – 5,6,20 и 22. В ноябре – 1,2,16,17,29 и 30.
Как правильно выбрать чеснок для посадки
Здесь вовремя вспомнить пословицу «Что посеешь, то пожнешь». Поэтому для посадки нужно отобрать самые лучшие головки с крупными и здоровыми зубчиками. На них не приемлемы повреждения, следы гнили и плесени.
Разделять головку на зубчики необходимо в день посадки, что — бы не подсохли. Просмотреть каждый из них, проследить за тем, что – бы зубчик имел целостную внешнюю оболочку. «Раздевать» его не следует. Чеснок, выращенный из голенького зубчика, будет вялым. Необходимо только отделить материнское донышко, которое замедлит укоренение.
Отдавать предпочтение при посадке желательно урожайным, зимостойким и сухостойким сортам, имеющим хорошие качества хранения. Среди огородников ценятся такие сорта:
- Юбилейный Грибовский. Пожалуй, один из лучших. Отличается высокими урожаями. Устойчив к вредителям и заболеваниям. Хорошо хранится. Имеет крупную луковицу с количеством зубков от 5 до 8. Весить может 40 граммов.
- Юбилейный 07. Также относится к урожайным и устойчивым сортам. Хорошо хранится. Количество зубчиков 5 – 8.
- Любаша. Замечательный сорт, зимо и сухо стойкий. Может храниться 10 месяцев, не теряя при этом качество. Луковица весит граммов 10 – 15, количество зубчиков колеблется в пределах 7 шт.
- Белый украинский. Этот сорт не стрелкуется, замечательно хранится. Головки могут весить от 50 до 140 гр. Отличается большим количеством зубков, может иметь до 12 шт.
- Харьковский фиолетовый. Отличается высокими урожаями, устойчивостью к болезням и вредителям. Имеет фиолетовый цвет, округло – приплюстнутую форму. Может весить от 30 до 60 гр., иметь 6 зубочков.
Выбирайте такой сорт, который лучше подойдет к региону Вашего проживания. Только в таком случае можно рассчитывать на щедрый урожай. Обращайте внимание на тот факт, что сорта, выпускающие стрелки, будут более выносливыми и зимостойкими.
Многие хозяева отбирают семенной фонд из собственного урожая. Оставляют для этих целей лучшие головки. Правильное решение на несколько сезонов. Но по своему опыту могу сказать, что нужно обновлять посевной материал с периодичностью один раз в три — четыре года.
Это можно сделать с помощью семян чеснока из собственной грядки. Они называются бульбочками. Во время созревания чеснок выпускает стрелки, которые мы срываем. Для оздоровления семенного фонда нужно несколько стрелок оставить.
Собранные бульбочки высадить в такие же сроки, как и основной материал. Только на отдельной грядочке. В первый год из бульбочек вырастет чеснок – однозубка. Посадив его на второй год, мы получим полноценную луковицу, оздоровив тем самым свой чесночный арсенал.
На вопрос, нужно ли делать обработку зубчиков чеснока перед посадкой, отвечу так. Знаю, что некоторые огородники замачивают посевной материал в светлом растворе марганцовки. Но я так не делаю. Просто отбираю качественный материал, хорошо удобряю почву. Считаю, что правильное выполнение агротехники позволяет собирать обильные урожаи.
Как выбрать место для посадки чеснока осенью
Первое, что необходимо сделать, это поменять участок. Чеснок не любит расти два года к ряду на одном месте.
Не уважает чесночок участки после лука и пасленовых – помидоров, перцев, синеньких. Хорошим новым местом станет то, где росли кабачки, тыквы, огурцы. Отлично будет расти на месте капусты и бобовых. Любит в качестве соседки клубничку.
Какие участки преимущественнее для посадки
- С ровной, возвышенной поверхностью, которая не будет подтапливаться паводками весной
- С легкой супесчаной почвой
- Хорошо освещаемые
- Исключающие сырость.
Подготовка участка к посадке озимого чеснока
Участок выбрали, теперь нужно его подготовить. Заняться этим лучше заранее. Как минимум, недели за 2 до посадки.
Каждый огородник – сам себе агроном, выработавший свой метод подготовки и удобрения участка. Напишу, как делаю это я. Советовать могу уверенно. Сажаю чеснок много лет, на урожаи не обижаюсь. Хватает до нового сезона, причем приличное количество уходит на закупорку. На посадку отбираю всего килограмм – полтора.
Итак, что нужно делать
- Землю перекопать. Глубину выдерживать на штык лопаты.
- Выбрать сорняки и камни.
- Заскородить земельку граблями.
- Удобрить землю. Самым лучшим вариантом будет перегной или компост. Наносить следующим образом – на два квадратных метра десятилитровое ведро. Перегной использовать двухлетней выдержки. Свежий навоз чеснок не переносит, так как там много азота. Почта станет кислой, а чесночок уважает плодородные, но нейтральные почвы.
- Перед самой посадкой землю хорошенько подрыхлить.
- При посадке, уже непосредственно в бороздки подсыпать золы. Она предохранит зубочки от загнивания.
Чем еще можно удобрить почву
- Если нет перегноя, можно использовать минеральные удобрения. На один метр квадратный внести граммов 20 – 30 суперфосфата и калийного удобрения в количестве 20 гр.
- Можно добавить аммиачной селитры перед самой посадкой. На метр квадратный 10 гр.
Хочу подчеркнуть — удобрения нужно вносить с учетом конкретных условий, не забывая, что чесноку нужен супесчаный некислый грунт. Не сильно плотный, и не сильно мягкий. Плотный может вытолкнуть семена на поверхность, они просто — напросто вымерзнут. Сильно мягкий может затянуть зубки вглубь, что тоже отрицательно скажется на урожае.
Правила посадки чеснока в грунт
Перед самой посадкой землю нужно основательно подрыхлить, ведь с момента подготовки прошло некоторое время. Земля подсохла сверху.
Поливать участок перед посадкой обычно не требуется – все – таки очень на дворе, хватает влаги. При засушливой осени полить можно накануне посадки.
Бороздки делать с расстоянием 20 – 25 сантиметров на глубину указательного пальца. Другая мера глубины – два зубка.
Зубчики нужно высаживать на расстоянии 10 – 15 см. друг от друга. Делается это после того, как дно ямки было посыпано золой. Вдавливать в землю зубок нельзя, только аккуратненько класть в ямку корешками вниз. Следить за тем, что – бы расстояние от верхнего кончика до поверхности земли было сантиметра 3,5 – 4.
Если Вы решили посадить осенью бульбочки, то их укладывают в ямки с меньшей глубиной. Сантиметров пяти будет достаточно.
По окончании посадки землю необходимо выровнять. После чего участок замульчировать. Это значит усыпать сверху торфом, либо опилками. Прекрасно подойдет листва. Мульчирование послужит дополнительным удобрением, а также сохранит семена от вымерзания. Эффективный слой – до 4 см.
Посаженный чеснок обычно не поливают. Хватает выпадающей росы и осенних дождей.
Хороший урожай чеснока можно ждать в том случае, когда на участке будет много снега. Поэтому необходимо сделать так, что – бы он задерживался на участке. Уложить мелкие ветки, хворост. А при необходимости, можно зимой даже подсыпать снега вручную. Но это в том случае, если участок у Вас небольшой.
Для южных регионов такого укрытия на зиму будет достаточно. А вот в холодных краях чесночок нужно прикрыть более основательно. Слой теплого одеяла в виде мульчи сделать более толстым, сантиметров до 18 – 20. А то, и укрывной материал использовать, или специальное агроволокно.
С наступлением теплых деньков, мульчированный слой нужно будет снять. Иначе наш чесночок задохнется или сопреет. А почву подрыхлить.
Сажайте на здоровье – чеснок вещь полезная. При соблюдении всех правил, все у Вас получится!
